According to a circular issued by the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs, public workers in Vietnam are entitled to four consecutive days off from September 1 to 4 in celebration of National Day (September 2).

Varun Grover, the country head for Vietnam at Booking.com, noted an increase in demand for staycations, drivecations, and short breaks among Vietnamese travelers during this upcoming National Day weekend. The Booking.com Travel Confidence Index 2023 also revealed that coastal locations were highly preferred by Vietnamese travelers, with 61 percent expressing interest in islands and beaches, closely followed by cities at 60 percent.

This preference for coastal destinations was evident in the top 10 domestic destination searches on Booking.com, with six out of the top 10 being coastal destinations. Da Nang ranked as the most searched destination, followed closely by Vung Tau City and Nha Trang City. Da Lat City and Ho Chi Minh City rounded out the top five.

In terms of international travel, Vietnamese tourists showed a preference for destinations that are relatively close to home, such as Bangkok, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

The Booking.com report analyzed searches from July 1 to August 14, with check-in dates from September 1 to 4.
